This post is special, as it is the first one reviewing my art supplies. Today I’m going to talk about my stylographs. I have two types, a set of disposable ones, and refillables from Rotring.
For the disposable ones I only own the ones I use more: 0.05, 0.1, 0.3, 0.4 and 1.0. They are of different brands: Stabilo, Pizzini, Rotring, and Faber Castell.
For the Rotrings I own a greater range of graduations: 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, 0.6, 0.8, 1.2 and 1.4. They use a special ink, it is water resistant so you can use it with watercolors. Also, the ink is of the fast-drying variety, but you have to be careful because smears happen specially if you use a ruler with them. It is quite a dark ink, similar to the Chinese ink, but it’s really fluid and smooth. You can buy bottles or individual cartridges, but you need different pens (rapigraph or isograph). You could buy only the tip, and have a cheaper set of them instead of buying the full one. They tend to score the paper so be careful of not pressing very hard, specially with the thinnest ones.
The disposable ones are thicker than the Rotrings so, the 0,05 disposable is thicker than the 0,2 Rotring. Another difference is that the disposable ones have a plastic point that is spent with use, you end up writing with the metal part and scoring the paper, the Rotrings are more durable, but the body of the pen is plastic so not that sturdy, you can break it just closing it too strongly.
